A Spiral Space · Day Retreat Series

Three days to come home to yourself

Are you looking for opportunities for growth and rooted connection? This fall, we're offering a season of day retreats for building a steady, deep contemplative practice among a caring community.

Glen Carbon, Illinois  ·  September through November

The Series

Three Saturdays, one quiet place by the lake

Each retreat stands on its own, and together they build a season of practice. Come to one or come to all three. Every gathering runs from 10am to 3pm at Lynda's home, with the lake, the trees, and plenty of room to sit still.

A Day of Natural Great Peace

We'll take the day to cultivate a deep silence and stillness, the kind that can hold us steady in worrisome times. There will be time in nature, time in silence together and alone, walking, and simply connecting to the earth. We'll share with others on the same path and work through a few grounding free writing exercises, tools you can carry home with you long after the day ends. Whether you're new to contemplative practice or have been sitting for years, this is a day to practice, slow down, and come home to yourself.

The Integral Journal

We'll work with the Integral Journal, a method created by Joe Zarantonello, who runs the Looseleaf Hollow Guesthouse and trained under Ira Progoff, the psychotherapist behind the original Intensive Journal method. Over the day we'll take a snapshot of where your life is flowing right now, work through a current challenge or upset, and gather up your peak and valley experiences, the moments too important to forget. We'll close by naming a few lighthouses of your own, the hard-earned truths that keep you steady when life gets foggy. Bring a notebook and your favorite pen and leave with a practice you can use again and again.

The Somatic Enneagram

The somatic Enneagram takes a mindfulness practice and sets it inside a developed framework for spiritual growth. By recognizing our type's fixations, defense systems, and toolsets, we'll learn to notice overwhelm in the body, resource ourselves from within, and integrate the embodied wisdom that's already there, waiting to be tapped.

The Setting

Lynda's home, on the water

Every retreat is held at Lynda Rands' home in Glen Carbon, about a 30 minute drive from St. Louis, built around a quiet lake, wide lawns, and a screened sunroom where the group gathers when it's time to come inside. Deer and geese pass through the grounds most days.
